DSM2 Version 8 Training Class

On September 21, 22, and 24, 2009, the Delta Modeling Section conducted a training class for DSM2 Version 8 at the DWR Computer Training facility in Sacramento. The class was the first public training workshop offered in several years. The class included Delta applications, basic DSM2 usage and the Version 8 features, including:

  1. Gates with more complex combinations of weirs, pipes: for instance, a gate with a weir, boat lock, pipes and several seasonal configurations.
  2. User-written operating rules for gates and inflows based on the dynamic state of the model…for instance, closing a gate to protect stage levels in the south delta.
  3. HDF5 tidefile for passing flow information from the hydrodynamics module to the quality module…a user readable format friendly to very large data sets and importable by applications such as Matlab and Python.
  4. Input system facilitating version and scenario management .
  5. Speed, robustness and accuracy enhancements.
