The following report on the Temporary Barriers Project is for your information and action, as appropriate. This report will be transmitted whenever changes occur to the operation of the barriers, and as a result of modeling and/or field monitoring of water levels in the south Delta.
STATUS AS OF: September 16, 2011
Head of Old River (HOR) Barrier:
The fall Head of Old River barrier will not be installed this season per Department of Fish and Game instruction. The dissolved oxygen and the San Joaquin flow conditions are acceptable and the physical rock barrier is not needed.
Agricultural Barriers (Old River near Tracy [ORT], Middle River [MR], Grant Line Canal [GLC]):
In compliance of the TBP permit and agreement condition, the Middle River and Old River near Tracy barriers were notched on September 15, 2011. A 10-foot notched was created at each barrier to allow salmon passage. No notch is required at the Grant Line Canal barrier this season due to high river flow.
All culvert flap gates at ORT and MR barriers are untied on Tuesday, August 23.
Water Levels/Water Quality Problem Notifications:
No problem reported.
There are no water levels and water quality problems reported in the South Delta. DWR will continue to monitor the water levels and modeling will resumed if needed.
